My Gran.

Today would have been her 90th Birthday so I think it fitting I share some memories of our wonderful Gran. These are the stories I shared at her funeral. I remember the many jumpers and cardigans she knitted for the family, my absolute favourite was the Black Beauty jumper she made especially for me. I think there are quite a few photos of me in the family albums proudly wearing it. Another fond memory was, of course, what we called "The Snowman Hunt". This usually happened on Boxing day after lunch. Gran had made Mr & Mrs Snowman who would leave us kids a note telling us that there were a number of presents hidden around their bungalow and we had to hunt around for them all. It seemed like it took us hours to find them all but it was the best fun for us. Thinking on it now I am older, it was an ingenious idea to keep us occupied while the grownups enjoyed their own Christmas cheer!! Gran was a very keen gardener, every Spring and Summer their front garden was just exploding with beautiful flowers and vibrant colours. I think she was the envy of all her neighbours, it was the best garden on their street. I used to walk past it everyday to and from school and always felt incredibly proud. The last memory I want to share was, in fact, the last time I saw her. Mum and I had gone over to Brooklyn House to put up Christmas decorations for her. She was bright and happy and offered me chocolates. When I went to go she gave me a huge hug and said how lovely it was to see me. I will always remember what a kind, caring and wonderful person she was. Love you Gran.
